Friday Funnies

Hi everyone,

Today was a very nice day. The cookies were very good and I highly recommend them. I might eat my words and type out that recipe, but not today (sorry, cookie lovers!). Instead, I'm going to serve up a plate of Friday Funnies!

Here they are!

The Sounds of the Grocery Store
The new supermarket near my house has an automatic water mister to keep produce fresh. Just before it goes on, you hear the sound of thunder and the smell of fresh rain.
When you approach the milk cases, you hear cows mooing and witness the scent of fresh hay.
When you approach the egg casem you hear hens cluck and cackle and the air is filled with the pleasing aroma of bacon and eggs frying.
The veggie department features the sound of a gentle breeze and the smell of fresh buttered corn.
I don't buy toilet paper there any more.
Next are a few funny videos by David Dean.
The first one is for you Moms and Dads out there. Kids can watch too - it's funny for the whole family.
The next one is the difference between the way men and women see humor. Hang onto your funny bones!
That's all for now, folks!

I'm Back

Hi everyone,

Gee whiz, it's been a long time since I've been blogging! But I'm back. Tomorrow, I going to my Grandma's house, where we're going to bake cheesecake and cookies! All courtesy of the Cake Mix Doctor, of course. I'd give out the recipe, but I don't think Mrs. Byrne (the Cake Mix Doctor) would appreciate me giving away all her secrets. You'll just have to buy the books and bake those yummy treats yourself!

In other news, I've been assigned a year-long project about anything I want to write about (within reason). Those kinds of reports are nice. So I chose to do the Holocaust

From what I've seen already from the Holocaust websites, the Holocaust was so much more gruesome than anyone can imagine. Please pray for the Holocaust survivors and their descendants, that they may know that Jesus heals all wounds, and that He cares about His people.

It's getting late, so I'm afraid I'll have to go. Goodnight and God bless!

Viva la Rebelution!

That's right folks...................

That's what this blog is all about...............rebelling against our culture's expectations of us. Instead of being lazy, rebellious, immoral teenagers, we're going to be modest, respectful, hard-working teens! Hopefully, our generation will not be remembered as the "Me" generation, but the "DO Hard Things" generation.

And leading the race is Alex and Brett Harris.

Alex and Brett Harris are the brothers of Joshua Harris, the author of I Kissed Dating Goodbye and Boy Meets Girl: Say Hello to Courtship. I highly recommend these two books; they'll change the way you look at relationships!
As the brothers of Joshua Harris and the sons of Gregg and Sono Harris (leading members of the homeschooling movement), these two obviously had to commit their part in this amazing family. So..............they started with a little blog called "The Rebelution".
What the Rebelution blog is about, is that as Christian teens, we're supposed to set an example for our peers, and not conform to what our culture expects of us. Therefore, we're supposed to adhere to what GOD expects of us! This battle against culture (so called "The culture wars") is thus so aptly called "The Rebelution".
I recommend that you hop on over right now to the website (it's on my link list) and see how you can join the Rebelution Army................doing what God expects of you and what culture doesn't.

10 lessons from the Princess Bride

Hi everyone,

I just found this cool list of lessons from The Princess Bride. The Princess Bride is a funny story, and I love the quote, "Bye-bye boys.............have fun storming the castle!" It's a wonderful movie, full of action, romance and a little bit of humor. But anyway, here are the lessons learned:

10 Things I've learned from the Princess Bride:

1. It's possible, with the right strategy, to best a giant.

2. Outsmarting the one who thinks he is smartest of all is not inconceivable. Pride creates vulnerability.

3. Don't believe everything you hear. It appears people can actually survive the fire-swamp.

4. The obvious bad guy isn't always the bad guy, but a reputation can be bigger than reality.

5. Reciting your name and life's purpose with passion to everyone you meet can gain you the resources you need to reach your goal. Plus win you a few lifelong friends along the way.

6. Good fighting is as much about style as it is about skill. Add style to your skills because style is more fun to watch.

7. The six fingered man was wicked then and he's wicked now. Pay attention to track records they tell a true story.

8. There is such a thing as true love if you are willing to fight to the death for it.

9. Having a great gift for rhyme can bring levity during a difficult time... I mean it. Anybody want a peanut? A sense of humor is priceless.

10. Fairy tales are a great reminder that happy endings are possible if you believe in them. We sacrifice for those things we believe in.

I highly recommend watching The Princess Bride. It's a little bit scary, but don't worry............there's a happy ending. And think, this applies to the Christian life too, and Westley's love for his girl is like God's love for us!

Blogroll

Hi everyone,

I'm going to go on a blogroll today! I haven't been doing a lot of blogging lately, but now I'm going to put on three new posts! Hang onto your hats folks, 'cause it's gonna be a bumpy ride!

The first order of business is that I have discovered new and wonderful about my little brother (who is now taller than me...........even though he's at the threshold of his teenage years and I'm well into the middle of it!). My brother can draw!

My brother showed us a picture of Mr. Peanut that he drew. It looked remarkably good. He did it for art homework, and he had a Planters Peanut can in front of him while he drew! He said he wanted to draw the cat, but she didn't want to be drawn. But the picture was remarkable! I'm sorry that I can't show you what the picture looks like, because I don't know how to download drawings onto the computer, but I'll show you Mr. Planter instead!

I'm so proud of my brother! Apparently, he and I inherited both our grandmothers' ability to draw well!

It's kind of a neat moment for a Christian artist when they draw, make music, etc. It almost makes you wonder, "Is this the way God felt when He created the world?" I'm sure though, that God loved His creation more than we ever loved any drawing or painting we ever made........I mean, c'mon..............who ever made a living, breathing creature with just their voice? It just shows you how powerful God is, and how merciful He is in His love for us, that He would send Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins!

Friday Funnies

Hi everyone,
For those of you who are complimentarians (believing that men and women were created by God to compliment each other), I, being a complimentarian myself, have come up with two jokes, which may sound silly, but have truth to them:

"A wife never takes charge unless her husband is slumped over the wheel of the car."

"A man should never yell at his wife unless she pours coffee onto his lap."

Have a great weekend, everyone! For the Gospel!

September 11

Hi everyone,

Of course you know that it's Patriot Day. It's so sad what's happened on that fateful day. But on a day of tragedy, God chose to bring healing. Please pray for those who were affected by 9/11 and for those who lost family. Pray that our nation will more resilient than ever to fight evil and return to Christianity.

Friday Funnies

Hi everyone,

Here's the Friday Funny! Today, it's 'B.C.'.

In other news, I wore my new shirt today. My mom and I went to Belk a little bit ago, and a woman happened to spot the message on my t-shirt. She declared that Jesus died for her space in Heaven too and that God is a comfort in present troubles. She honestly didn't know how people could live without God. Isn't that wonderful? It's great when you meet a fellow Christian in this grimy world of ours! The woman said that her husband loved those kinds of shirts, and she called him over to come look at it! That was so cool! My mom and I told them that you could find them at the Christian bookstore, which was close by. Jesus is King! Have a great weekend!

Crocs Rock!

Hi everyone!
My mom and I have been struck by Croc fever!!!!!!!! We first saw them at a shoe department in our mall, and we thought they were okay. Then I saw one of my friends wearing a bright green pair of Crocs and they were cute! My interest grew even more when I saw a picture of Josh Harris, the pastor of our church and the author of I Kissed Dating Goodbye, wearing a pair of Crocs on his own two feet (along with his cute kids!). My mom looked at them and soon we got hooked! My mom just bought me a pair. They're Mary-Janes (what a pretty name!) in chocolate brown! Not only are they stylish, but I'll be able to wear them at school! At my school, we wear uniforms (Friday is "Dress Your Way Day") and the only color shoes we can have are brown, navy and white shoes. This is perfect! God is so good!

But wait, there's more! Not only did I get a pair of Crocs, but my mom surprised me with a new Christian t-shirt! This rocks! Stylish shoes and being a banner for Jesus Christ! This is a picture of the t-shirt my mom got me.

Isn't it cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But of course, all these things are nothing compared to the gift of salvation Jesus Christ gave to us. Can I get an Amen?

In other news, I'll be proudly attending the wedding of the world's cutest couple, Tyler and Elea! Pray that I don't start crying! Usually, I don't cry at weddings, but these two are my friends, and they're sooooooooo sweet! But anyway, I'm sure that the wedding will be just beautiful. God is so good.

And now, I must start updating my blog!

Labor Day and Cookies

Hi everyone,

School has been good so far. Today is Labor Day, so naturally, the teachers are taking a relax! I myself am going to bake cookies!!!!!!!!!!! They're vanilla cookies with icing on it! It's not like the original recipe, but I hope it will be just as good! I baked yesterday with an apron on and I felt so feminine! No wonder we girls like aprons! It keeps you from getting messy, and you look cute! Ahh..........Titus 2 rocks!!

But now for a verse on work, since today is Labor Day:

10By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should be careful how he builds. 11For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, 13his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man's work. 14If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward. 15If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames. 1 Corinthians 3:10-14
This shows that not only do we have to work our physical jobs, but we also have to work for God's kingdom. That means witnessing, doing work for the church and praying. Ask God how you can glorify Him in what you do.
Have a great Labor Day!
